Receiving an additional 2000 ISAF's is good news for sure. I watch their videos they share with the world. They seem to work very well with the American troops and the villagers in Afghanistan. I'm sure the goal of self reliance for the Afghanistan army has been in place since the beginning of the war. The thought of any country sending in troops without some kind of a comprehensive plan is plain ridiculous.
I like Gates and Mullen's views on the July 2011 deadline. The White House explanation was foolish and meant to mislead.

Book in Obama's hand 'The Post-American World" Doesn't sound like a book an optimistic President working to improve America's future would be reading.

Jeremiah, chapter 50
